Surface Zine is a bi-annual independent artist publication, bringing together artists that choose materials for their enticing tactile appeal to create seductive final forms. Often considering art objects as marketed commodity items, throughout the zine artists mimic the way colours and textures in consumer experience can seduce consumers, appealing to their basic desire for pleasing aesthetic forms. Both seduced and critically aware, the issue is an examination of our materialistic culture. Themes of analogue versus digital are explored through texture, along with ideas of how tactile experience can be approached through flat, printed images on paper.

The issue features creatives such as SelgasCano (the designers of the 2015 Serpentine Pavilion), Julia Dault and Amsterdam based designer duo MaryMe-JimmyPaul.
