Desire Lines : New paintings by Leo Arnold and Elinor Stanley

Desire is a special kind of hunger whether it manifests as lust, resentment, sudden infatuation, dependency or heartache. It is responsible for some of our greatest states of bliss and our deepest conflicts. The title Desire Lines refers to a path trodden by human traffic and can here also be considered in regards to the formal aspects of the exhibited works. This show consists of paintings that explore desires’ varied and beaten tracks.
---
There will be a workshop taking particular inspiration from Degas’ nocturnal monoprints which are potent and ominous with desire. Participants will be taught a range of monoprinting techniques and methods, all of them completing at least one artwork in the session. This will take place on the afternoon of Saturday the 4th at 2-4pm.
